This review is from: Dirty Dancing - Havana Nights (DVD) This was a present for my 17-year-old daughter, who loves to dance. She likes Havana Nights for its spicyness and Spanish flvor. It is a teen-age thing.

I bought this movie last year on a hum bug. This movie really surprised me. I really enjoyed it. My daughters love it as well. We watch it constantly and the soundtrack is awesome too.

This movie really has nothing to do with the first one except a cameo byPatrick Swayze. The dancing was quite good for non-professional dancersbutthe music was REALLY good even though they had nothing like that in 1958!Extremely thin plot and rushed paced with little character development butthat would have probably gotten in the way and made the movie longer andmore boring. Sela Ward adds class to anything she does and she addscharisma to this movie. Diego Luna even though not of typical matineeidollooks has tons of charisma and lights up every scene he is in. MikaBooremis also turning into quite a beauty as evident here. If you want to hearsome great music then by all means see this and enjoy, just don't thinktoohard about the plot, there isn't much to work with.

Pretty impressive, I truly thought the movie was going to drag. I reallyliked it. Although I began to think that this was the typical romance, whererich guy wants rich girl but rich girl wants poor boy, I was sadlymistaken. It had a little twist to part it from the typical. The music was hot andenergetic. The actors were great, I really believed the emotion and thesarcasm brought to the table. Javier was sexy. Definitely a movie to seewith the girls. It is a chick flick but a good one. I don't know if I'dcompare it to Dirty Dancing because the "original" has all the flavor.Trust me on this one though, it would not be a complete waste of money tocheck out this movie.

OK, I heard about DD Havana Nights for months.. couldn't wait to go seeit in the theater. Then I saw a preview and could tell right off thebat that it was going to be a lot different and possibly a cheap remakeof the original. I finally rented it a few weeks after it came out onvideo and wasn't too pleased. The lead female in the movie did anaverage job playing the unhappy rich girl. I wouldn't say it was asimpressionable as Jennifer Grey in the original. Her body didn't seem tomatch up with her co-stars and they just didn't have the same chemistryas the original dirty dancers. I felt the storyline was weak, had toomany holes and ended abruptly. The music didn't add up. They wereplaying R&B hip hop type music in the 1950s!! The cameo by PatrickSwayze wasn't very well thought out.. I actually thought he was editedin because he was wearing the same tattered red shirt and black pantsfrom the original!! He never said his name and had a very small, useless part. The directors could have written him into the storylinebetter and it might have saved the movie. If you haven't seen the firstor fall in love with the first Dirty Dancing then you might enjoy thismovie. The actors are attractive, there are a few "lusty" scenes, themusic and dancing is catchy but my heart is with the first. Should havecalled this movie simply, Havana Nights.

Having just seen this movie i am sad!! Dirty Dancing was a legend, on apar with Grease, but to me this second one has none of the magic oratmosphere which was in the one and only wonderful and original DirtyDancing movie of my teenage summer years! The acting in this one wasnot bad, but lacked the passion and emotion of the first movie, i feltthat the plot was flaky and too fast paced to appreciate the feelingsthat the two main characters had for one another, they had nothing onBaby and Johnny! Johnny was 100 times sexier than the new guy! also thelocation was totally wrong, i've nothing against Havana, but it lackedthe nostalgic feel and should have stayed in America where theatmosphere was perfect, the music was very much the same all the waythrough, and had no memorable hits, unlike the fantastic soundtrack thefirst one had,you still hear that on the radio now!! and i'm sorry butthe only spark this movie had was when the gorgeous Patrick Swayzearrived, he did not appear much, but brought back happy memories, however that only served to remind me how sad it was that the secondmovie was so not Dirty Dancing! I definitely did not have the time ofmy life! To me there is only ONE Dirty Dancing and always will be.

Yes, the original is much better, I'm not denying that, but if you area big fan of dance flicks, then this is a must watch.Katie Miller is an American who moves to Cuba in her senior year athigh school. She is fascinated by the way the locals feel the musicwhile they dance. She meets Javier, a Cuban, who is a great dancer. Shepartners with him for a Latin ballroom dance contest, and soon findsherself falling in love with him.The film has lovely choreography, and highlights the Cuban Revolutionwhich takes place during the movie. You may not like the film if youcompletely love Dirty Dancing, but it's worth a watch.

I love dance movies and this one was right up there. It made me want toget up and dance. I could feel the emotion that was going on on screen. That is why it deserves a 10 from me. I think the dance instructor saidsome good heart felt words. Overall I would buy the DVD and use it in agirls movie night. It was similar to the first Dirty Dancing, but itwas very different with the rhythm of the beat. There were certainthings I would change about the movie but I wont say other wise itwould spoil the movie. I say watch it. You will enjoy it. If you loveLatin music there is a lot of it in there. There are a few sad moments, which made me cry so if you are a teary person make sure you have oneor two tissues on hand. It was a great movie all up.

I rented this movie because of my passion for Latin dance and should bea little bit romantic, I decided to watch it with my girlfriend. Part 1was new, romantic and had a story, This part is more of the same with aweaker story that could be summarized in 2 lines. The music is okay butthe dancing... this is the worst dancing I've ever seen, join a Salsacourse and in 2 lessons you'll dance even better than the actors inthis movie. The steps are all wrong and timed incorrectly, they keepdoing the same 2 dance-figures over and over with no passion and a lotof exaggerated arm movements. This was definitely a waste of time. Ifyou want a romantic dance movie, just stick to the original DirtyDancing which I would rate with a 7.5.

This review is from: Dirty Dancing - Havana Nights (DVD) I am a big fan of the first Dirty Dancing movie with Patrick and Jennifer, so it was a no brainer for me when the Havana Nights version came out. The music(latin flavor)and location is different from the first, as is the story line, but I was sold at the first dance routine. Music and dancing has a way of making peoples lives richer, that is what this movie showed, and that was my take away, just as in the original. Music and dancing is a universal expression of emotions and feelings that don't always translate well with words no matter what the language is! I enjoyed watching the two different cultures come together and blend because of their love of music and dancing.

Havana nights was a good movie as far as the dancing goes but when itcomes to the plot it was kind of boring but it makes up for it becauseof the dancing and the acting.DIego luna does a pretty good job not hisbest but good everyone else was ordinary But like I said thechoreography was great.I think the plot was OK originally but it wasnot well executed. And it didn't have anything to do with the original.except for patrick swuaze. now as far as the music goes it wasincredible it had such good music and I bought the soundtrack and ithas now some of my favorite songs on it a perfect mixture DiegoLuna, great music, and Dirty, and when I say dirty I mean dirty. It isdefinitely worth watching!

This movie was just okay to me. I wasn't as interested in this one as I was the first. Granted, the cast was easy on the eyes in this film, but it just lacked the excellence of the first. To me, there is no touching a classic, so I guess that is to be expected. The second usually isn't as good as the first, that is the case here. I would suggest renting this, it's worth at least a watch. Patrick Swayze is back in this one, a small part.

This film is really cool! I really enjoyed and I would recommend it toanyone who likes romance, drama and cute men! Gosh, Diego Luna (JavierSuarez) is so cute. I think he and Romola Garai (Katie Miller) suiteach other, in the movie. You all HAVE to watch it, even if you don'tlike it or have watched it before. I've watched it before, and I likedit so much that I watched it again and again. The dancing is so dirty,I've starting taking lessons on how to dance like that. I think Javieris a really good dancer, and so is Katie, even if she's not as good asJavier. I especially like the part where they're both dancing in thesea. It's so sweet, the way they find romance for each other and fordancing together. I'd give it 11/10, if that existed.

Usually I live in england with my mom, but when I came to stay with myaunt I had to take a nine hour flight to Orlando. There were many filmson the plane and when I saw this film advertised, I was expecting a badremake of a classic with ugly people and no good acting but as soon asI was done watching it I wanted to watch it again and again, so Idid!!! This is a must see film, for fans of the first because, it isjust as good, if not better. It has all the energy and romance of thefirst but with Latin flavors and sexy dances! I loved it so much thatas soon as i arrived i went and bought it!!! 10 out of 10! I lovedit!!! If they made another one just the same i would go for auditionsto be in it!!!

Personally I don't see why the critics said this movie was so bad because I absolutly ADORED IT! The story is cute and I must admit that Diego Luna is major eye candy! It's also fun seeing a cast of new actors instead of the same old same old actors. The dancing is so good that I started taking latin ballroom lecons because of it! A must see!

I want to say that I don't understand why the movie is called "Dirtydancing 2: Havana nights"... It would be better to just call it "Havananights"... The movie has nothing to do with the original "Dirtydancing". And if it did it wouldn't be so good, I did'n want to see it,but then someone told me it had nothing to do with the original movie.I was afraid this movie would make me see movie number one different, but it didn't...And don't tell me Patrick Swayze is playing Johnny... That would meanJohnny must have been older in 1958, then he was in 1963... Heshouldn't be in the movie at all... But if you don't think about "Dirty dancing" when you see "Havananights", it is really a great movie... The dance scenes are magical! Iloved this movie...

I thought no way this would be as good as the original but I was wrong, its great! Its not a sequeal but something different, a different cast but with a similiar story. I loved Dirty Dancing and I loved Dirty Dancing Havana nights just as much!It was nice to see Patrick Swayze in the movie and I really liked Romola Garai!

i wasn't a huge fan of the first one which is probably why i loved thisone so much if you weren't a die hard fan of dirty dancing I then youmight like this one if you like Cuba and or Cuba dancing you'll lovethis movie the plot was like the first one of course but if you canaccept that then you'll love this movie =). The movie takes place inpre-revolution Cuba when Bastista was president. starts off with Katey, the daughter of two champion dancers. The family had to move to Cubafor her father's job. walking home from school, Katey sees Javierdancing in the street. Dancing in a way she has never seen before.Eventually they enter a dance contest to help out Javier's family. ipersonally think the movie has great dancing, a great soundtrack, andis all together fantastic
