Excellent Movie.. Simply Entertaining.

I was on my toes the entire movie, It was very fast and stocked full ofaction. I did like the story to it.. Poor Ironhide, now he died in bothseries. Leonard Neomoy with the trademark Spock quote "The needs of themany, outweigh the needs of the few" Come on now.. ya gotta love it.Bay knows what the public likes, he can keep the attention span of newyoung followers and still keep it entertaining for older. Also this hasto be watched in 3D. Avatar had the 3D label but honestly really didn'tuse it. To me just a camcorder block. Bay used 3D how it should be. Now most critics who love "The Pianist" Will say something on thelines, "This movie is without character, blah blah blah" Bays premise,Entertain all. If you showed "The Pianist" or "The Godfather" to an 8year old he would hate it. I love both movies by the way. You showtransformers to the average to young and old we simply love it. Thequestion at the end should be, "Were you entertained" I'm just waitingfor all the trolls to take their opportunity the break this movieapart. It's the difference between a good Rock Song and Mozart. As muchas I would like to kick back and play classical I love driving my carw/ some good Metallica and The Eagles..

You can see the light, but it's mainly on the dark side.

There are spoilers in this. Shia is getting better with every film. His comic timing is genius andhe really is young talent. He's emotional in the right way, pulls us inand you sympathise with him and his relationship to the Autobots. Theaction scenes are becoming slightly easier to handle, with less of thatcrappy shaky-camera effect and the actual CGI on the Transformers hasbeen improving since the first meaning we're starting to see more humanfeatures on them in comparison to what we've seen previously- just aclunk of metal making noises. They're getting slightly more colourfulbecause I think Bay realised that some things were indistinguishable. The CGI is, of course, amazing being a multi-million dollar film and wehad a few nicer long shots that let you soak all of the battle scenesin rather than meshing it all up into a headache of an eyesore. And that's all I have to say that's positive. On the negative side of this moon, it's gloomy. Megan Fox's replacementis tripe, to be frank. She can't act to save her life and even Megan"one facial gesture" Fox does a better job, it's sad to say. Theirrelationship was more believable.Rosie's brilliant acting skills are obviously not why she was chosenfor the role. Inconsistency seems to be a major factor in this filmwith a few things. One minute she's whipped on her boyfriend and thenext minute she's saying she can't deal with it, then she's riding offwith him again. A blonde, dopey maiden who's in dire need of saving andcan't do anything for herself. And Bay, the black-on-black, epic "homeyslap" between two characters who have been given no back-story werepalm-to-forehead moments. I thought we'd come a long way fromstereotypes, but obviously not. Anyway, more inconsistency with thebattle at the end: explain to me how Optimus Prime fights SentinalPrime and nearly loses, then a fully-pumped and rested Megatron pullshim apart no problem, but then Optimus leaps up and rips Megatron open,easy-as-you-like? I hate that in films so thanks, Bay. I was kind ofexpecting an epic battle between the old foes to finish off the series, but we don't get that. Instead we get one of the most gruellinglytedious action montages that I've seen in recent years right up fromwhen they're in the falling building to when the Primes start fighting. That whole last section lasted for a good twenty minutes or more. Youcould have had an extra few scenes with Megatron and Optimus to reallydelve into their history and friend/rivalry relationship (Magneto/Prof.X style). Bay's got no respect for the original program and displaysthis well. Also, Hugo Weaving IS NOT Megatron. I cannot forgive Bay for this. Whatis even more bizarre is that Frank Welker, Megatron's original voiceactor, took up on his old role for the first two video games of themovies AND did the voices for Soundwave and Shockwave in the last twofilms! Bay, where is your logic? I wouldn't even let him into my studioif he wasn't reprising his old role. It's a travesty because Optimuswas given his nostalgic privileges, so why not Welker? For true fans ofthe original series, it's a major let-down and since we get some moredialogue from Megatron in this film, it's a distraction for thosealready familiar with the Decepticon they know and love. When I heardSoundwave and Shockwave, even I thought, "Wow, that sounds like theoriginal Megatron". Anyway, forgive an old fan's rant. I love Weaving, but not as Megatron. When I saw the scene between Starscream and Megatron, with himcomplaining at him as he always did, it felt good and reminiscent ofwhat I loved about Transformers, but that was short-lived because thenI had to endure some completely stupid and nonsensical scenes with KenJeong just there for "let's rinse out a popular actor of today" factor. His performance was funny as hell, as he is a funny guy, but it feltwrong for this movie. But nothing was more awkward than John Malkovichbeing a stern boss to someone who play-fights with Bumblebee thenext... And don't get me started on the wealth of inconsistencies inthe plot. It's just convolution handed out in droves. Bay, you're aconfused, greedy and selfish man. As mentioned earlier, I can't standinconsistency like this. The movie actually starts off pretty well, in fairness. The plot seemsas if it's going somewhere and that Bay isn't afraid to show the more"human" qualities of the robots. The Autobots make their trademarkcliché phrases and stuff, and even Starscream sounds fearful ofMegatron again, which he didn't in the previous two films which Ithought was brave of Bay and it paid off. There are some interesting"cover-up" tangents, but it soon very quickly loses any momentum it hadand then you realise it's the same old crap. Very pointless.Anyway, everyone's a critic and you may have thought it was the bestfilm of the year so far. I thought the film was entertaining enough ifyou want a decent action movie, minus that really long stretch oftediousness near the end, and was impressive on a visual scale (didn'tsee it in 3D because I don't believe in giving these companies moneyfor something that hasn't worked since the '40s and probably neverwill- 3D is useless and gives me a headache) but was a 5 (6 at best) asa standalone movie, but overall, I gave it 3 because I am aTransformers fan. Two stars for CGI and one extra some MINORimprovements.

Epic

If your seeking a film with an impeccable story, great plot andprogressive character development..... this is definitely NOT that sortof film. Then again if you aren't aware of Micheal Bay's reputation ofan all action and special effects based style of direction than youprobably don't go to the movies a whole lot. That being said it is inmy opinion that this film is nothing short of brilliant. Micheal Baysdays of shooting car advertisements have really paid off in these threefilms and in particular this last installment of the trilogy(Transformers: Dark of the moon). The film lives up to everything Iexpected, the special effects are amazing, the action is fantastic theComputer Generated Imagery is perfect and to even add onto that the 3Dexperience is just incredible. I actually think I appreciated the filma lot more watching it in 3D. Like in particular the scenes whereShockwave's pet mechanical leech rips through the commercial buildingsand the deployment of the airborne military troops in particular arequite astounding. Though as much as the action was fantastic and nailbiting at times. The story is pretty simple and predictable as youwould expect. I don't care though, I don't need story for a bunch ofrobots, just as long as their motives justify their means to blow $%*#up, I'll be happy to watch it to see what happens. So that being said do me a favor and grab an energy drink and head ondown to your local cinema and buy a 3d ticket for transformers. Its oneof the only 3D films out that will get you the experience you would beexpecting and if your not to keen on an all action based film than itsprobably time to watch "The Departed" again

He Delivered.

In the world of smart phone applications, companies say that to publishan app, it must do what it says it does. Two years ago, critics slatedRevenge of the Fallen with biased views and poor excuses. And soMichael Bay went away and created a film which has everything the fansand critics asked for. It has action, emotion, comedy and depth. Hesaid he was going to create an action film and not one person can saythat he has failed. The benchmark has been set for any future actionmovie and it is a tribute to both great science fiction stories and theTransformers franchise that this creation has grown into such awonderful cinematic experience for any movie lover. If you dislikeexplosions and cutting-edge CGI, don't watch this film. But for whatwas asked of him, and for what we deserved as fans... Michael Baydelivered.

Hollow, superfluous, boring, cliché....

This movie is for the elementary school or junior high kids. If highschool teenagers like this movie, they are doomed to be shallow adultsin the future. What's the purpose of producing this stupid computerizedCGI craps one after another? This transformer crap should be endedafter the first one, because there's no more story that could be moreinteresting than the first one, all the series or sequels are justtrying to fool the general movie goers to spend mindless money to keepwatching it. Now, it's 3D, but does it make any big difference? Boringcharacters, boring designs of the transformers, boring scenario, plots(is there any?), endless explosions, endless catastrophic machinesfighting machines, machines fighting human beings, stupid dialog, stupid parents, stupid companies, stupid NASA, stupid militaryoperations, transformers of cars, flying robots, evil againstgood....blah, blah, blah, and blah. I've never seen so many stupid junkjammed into a stupid movie like this series. And this time, replacedone more stupid Victoria (underwears) girl who absolutely got no actingtalent at all to play the girl friend of that young actor who has sopathetically kept signing up for this stupid franchise. My younger son forced me to accompany him to watch this movie, butafter 20 minutes torture, I just couldn't stand it and told my son Idecided to wait outside. Yes, that's how bad it is. This stupid movieis for kids under 12, but the violence is definitely not for that agelimit. Somebody has to bash me with a baseball bat turning me into avegetable first, then I might be able to sit through out this movie.

Haters gonna hate....hard.

So. I consider myself a movie fan, I'm 30, I am not a fan ofTransformers franchise, I didn't watch cartoons, read some comics as akid, had one toy. Now. I saw it yesterday in IMAX, and wanted to sum up my experience infew bulletpoints considering how horrified I was with all the hatehere. Not a fan of Bay too (I love The Rock though), but I like hisfilms as I like to go to a theme park or a zoo - simple entartainment. 1. 3d was excellent. It was used for pure fun and joy of the viewer andnot just to throw axes and shoot bullets into your eyes. Also I likedthe brightness, and as a side note my eyes hurt much less than say onAvatar, and movie is almost 160 mins long. 2. F@ck the cardboard characters, I did not expect much and was thereonly for pure brainless kaboom action, which I got. The human baddiewas weak though, and I still have no idea what Malkovich was doingthere. 3. The girl. I see many of you demand Hellen Miren or Meryl Streepacting qualities from a chick in a Bay movie. I expect MY girl to besmart, intelligent and pretty, but in Bay movie she can be brainlessidiot and seriously I do not care - so why so much whining? Don'tunderstand. 4. The design. I see people bitch1n on the robots' design. What thef@ck where you expecting? Megatron transforming into giant gun? In myopinion, seeing how lazy production designers happen to be nowadays(see Skyline, or Green Lantern) the overall look of robots' devices, ships was t1ts. 5. Unlikable main protagonist. Wait... what? He was a pure everyman -b1tchy, frustrated and tired of how the world is constructed, lookingfor a job being pressed by parents and having issues in hisrelationship with a girl. I do not see any difference between him andguy posting rant SaM WUZ soooo 1RRRR1TAT1ING ZOMG WHAT A F@G GOT. 6. CGI. The composition was far superior to Avatar, I have not noticedany "low-res" textures that people complain about. I saw every dollarspent on this movie on the screen. Few scenes were done with so muchtaste that I was really proud of Bay (re: scene introducing Megatron, and dialog between Sentinel and Optimus about the latter being now thementor since he's been on Earth long). The squirrel people jumping offthe burning plane gave me goosebumps and that was what I expected fromthis ride (because I do not consider it a serious movie.) Now. Having addressed these few issues I would also like to add Ireally loved the one sweet moment - in the highway chase scene therewas a significant zoom on the rear view mirror of the car with standardOBJECTS IN A REARVEIW MIRROR MAY APPEAR CLOSER THAN THEY ARE text beingshown with blurred bots in the background. Well it was a song by MeatLoaf for which Bay made a cool video and I truly loved this littletrivia. Closing my wall of text - and I know a lot shall not even bother toread it - I quietly ask you guys: do not overanalyze this. It's funsummer action flick, more of an experience than a film, a mixtape ofcool action clishes for a tweleve year old in every one of us. Muchbetter than the second one, and maybe even the first - but hey! stopanalyzing! Cheer up and stop hating, life is better without hate isn'tit? PS. Buzz Aldrin scene was so touching and directed with great taste.Brilliant.

Could have been so much more!

This movie could have been so much more. The visuals are awesome, but the movie seemed a little choppy. Lets just call it poor editing.I was not overly disappointed, but it could have been so much more, with a few added scenes to tie things together, and a little more time spent editing the scenes.-BD

rumasuk (05 May 2012)

this movie i mean.... it was OK

i feel bad for giving this movie a 6, it deserves a 6.5 in my ratingsystem. Its better told than the 2nd one, but aside from the effectsand action sequences, well it sucks.I'm surprised that people like this better than transformers 2. myguess is that they hated the 2nd one so much that this could seem onlybetter. Because this movie is not better than the second one, its justtold in a better way (slightly).Im sorry if you re a united states citizen, but every movie that goesfor the proud us flag waving in the back style of script fails, andfails in a big way. Bay movies are no masterpiece in my opinion, theyare written for people who are very different than me and my kind ofpeople.don't get me wrong i enjoyed the movie, but i knew what it was. Theaction scenes are awesome, like really awesome, specially the fallingbuilding scene and the final battle: the new bad guy fought off all theautobots like a MACHO, and he gets killed in the most pussy way. thedialog SUCKS, in the name of freedom we declare you the war?? damn thatwas bad. At least there is no mudflap and his brother who were awful inthe second film.for me there were like 6 big plot holes and did i mention the dialogsucked? but the acting was not bad for me. another thing that buggedme, Malkovich, Mcdormand and Turturro are all major Coen brothersstars, are they friends with Bay or what?.i didn't hate the movie, the action was awesome and only that gave itthe six points i gave it. i would like to give it more because i gavethe previous movie a 7, but i will change the score of the previousfilm to 6 as well, because thats is the score the trilogy deserves.Bay should go on a mystical trip to other cultures and return tofilmaking after at least 5 years, he should change his views because heis being toss aside of whats really cool nowadays

Tommy Nelson (02 May 2012)

Mind numbing!!!!

Transformers 2 was unbearably horrible, it was almost sure that part 3would have to be better, as being worse would be nearly impossible.Unfortunately, Michael Bay has made a film about on par with his lasttrainwreck Transformers movie, and this, like this last movie is athoroughly dumb and unenjoyable sensory overload full of poorly thoughtout plot points, dumb dialogue in this sort of surreal fantasy worldwhere everyone is as goofy as can be.Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) is living in a nice apartment with his newgirlfriend Carly (Rosie Huntington-Whiteley), and needs some action inhis life. He gets a new job, and is almost killed, and meanwhileOptimus Prime makes a trip to the moon to gain pillars and to bringback his old friend Sentinel Prime. Meanwhile again, Dylan (PatrickDempsey) is Carly's boss, and Sam is jealous. And then Megatron and theDecepticons take over Chicago. And then there's action. And then itends (thank God).Transformers 2 must have been too serious for people, because MichaelBay just had the actors go all out slapstick performances. It was likean unfunny reproduction of the Three Stooges or something. Comedicscenes are comedic only because of these cartoon like performanceswhere everyone is a comedian, and nobody seems to care about impendingdanger, but instead just want to lighten the mood with their nightclubroutines. The first hour of the movie is so silly and lightweight, itliterally serves no purpose whatsoever. No scenes had any effect on the next scenes. Shia Labeouf is almostkilled, and this scene is followed by a 5 minute speech about love withhis parents. Chicago is destroyed by Decepticons, and immediatelyfollowing we see people casually walking through destroyed Chicago likethey're going for a stroll before work or something. An entire sub-plotabout Sam getting a job is completely dropped, and serves no point inthe movie except to introduce these bizarrely eccentric characters andgive the audience some very dumb yuk- yuks. A bizarre scene hasRussians pulling guns on Sam and John Turturro, and it literally isjust there for laughs. It's so over the top, and cloying for cheaplaughs, it's almost pathetic, and again, has no impact on anything. Infact, this entire movie could have been scrapped, and the big battle atthe end could have basically been the film, because really that's allthat mattered in the "plot".Character motivations are way off too. Patrick Dempsey wants theDecepticons to win, because he was promised he will be saved, and notkilled by them. He knows that their plot is to enslave humans, and healso admits a dislike for Megatron. When the Autobots come, Dempseygoes and tattles to the Decepticons. So...does he want to be a slave? Not tattling would have had no repercussion on him, and actually couldcause him not to be a slave. Also making no sense is Patrick Dempsey'shenchmen and workers who stay loyal to him in the face of totalannihilation. As the robots destroy Chicago and kill people, they stayguarding Carly like this job is of some importance. Humans are beingenslaved and they are taking some meaningless job when they should berunning for their dear life. Again, it's like no characters thinkthrough anything that happens. The Transformers are hard to watch. They walk around with English, NewYork, Italian and other accents and why? Are they from these places orjust made to be exactly like Earth people? Megatron's henchmen robotsare like Igor from Frankenstein, and one of them even has this giantrag on their head to make them seem like a lowly servant, but why? Whywould a robot wear this? Did they see people doing this in clichéd scifi movies? And to top that off, the robots know all the cool Earthslang and speak in it, and the little robots seem to have high libidos. The only purpose for them being so anthropomorphic is to get theaudience to laugh at their lame one-liners, and they come off ashorrible clichés. This is a movie that is pandering to it's audience through bottom ofthe barrel dumb comedy, big loud action scenes and a nonexistent plot. But it's terribleness goes beyond that. It's a movie where even themost idiotic of individuals in the audience has more brains in theirhead than any of the characters, and nobody thinks through anysituation, and no decisions make any sort of logical sense. It's aseries of unnecessary events that leads to an overlong finale that ismore headache inducing than fun. This might be a tiny bit better thanTransformers 2, but the two movies are close to being on par. If youjust think about any aspect of the film, you will realize nothing makesany sense. This was just awful! My rating: 1/2 out of ****. 153 mins. PG-13 for violence and language.

The Transformers go lunar crazy.

I bet everyone was excited as I was when this movie came out intheaters. More characters, more explosions, and another governmentconspiracy.A crashed Autobot ship, captained by the legendary Sentinal Prime(Leonard Nimoy), was found on the moon some years ago during an Apollomission. Optimus and company bring back Sentinal and a vital inventionthat could save or destroy the world. With all not being as it seems, man and Autobot must once again stand together against a new Decepticonthreat.Like the previous two movies, there's tons of action. The destructionis on a much greater scale and more characters step in to join thefray, especially Shockwave, the one-eyed, arm-cannoned Decepticon. Before the film's release, the media sorta mislead us into thinkingShockwave is the main villain when really he isn't (nonetheless he'sstill awesome and menacing). The comedy is still loads of fun, especially now that they brought in John Malkovich who's pretty funny. It's also nice that they brought in Leonard Nimoy who has actually beena veteran Transformers actor in the past. One problem this movie has that pretty much everyone pointed out isthat the role of some of our main human characters was poorly written. The filmmakers didn't really come up with anything interesting forthem, especially Sam Witwicky. It also sucks that Megan Fox gotreplaced by Rosie Huntington as Sam's new love interest (Carlie Spencerfrom the G1 series). Plus the main human villain is so annoying thatI'm glad he gets clubbed in the face by Sam in the end.Great action and a good plot are what save this movie. HopefullyTransformers 4 will be made. Go see how this all goes down and enjoy.

One of the most spectacular threequels I have ever seen and a perfect conclusion to the outstanding trilogy.

I really enjoyed watching Transformers 3 and the Dark of the Moon withmy little brother along with these two girls I invited to see the moviewith us in Real D 3-D today.I was rather bored but still interested in what was going on with thecharacters during the first half of the movie. The only things I loved during the first half of the movie were theaction scenes and Sam acting hilarious at times.Once that twist came in the movie became awesome for me and I loved itfrom there and all the way till after the post credit scene in the endcredits.Rosie Huntington-Whiteley was great and good-looking as Carly Spencerbut I did not like the way that Micheal Bay introduced her in thebeginning of the movie because it felt very disrespectful and pervertedand Ken Jeong was So ANNOYING. He should have just gave Sam info aboutthe stuff going on in a normal way before being shot by Laserbeak.Overall I thought Transformers 3 and the Dark of the Moon was one ofthe most spectacular threequels I have ever seen and a perfectconclusion to the outstanding trilogy.

Teenagers may like it

One the poorest acting movies I have seen this year. It is too noisy,an obsolete ploy and hardly convincing in any of the actions. Thedirector has no commitment into making a movie. Though teenagers maylike it because the plot is good for their "education" in Computinggraphics. Rosie Huntington looks like an ancient tree. Shia LeBeoufshines only in making the plot less credible. The rest of the cast canbe replaced simply by CG too if the movie production house wants it. Itis a shame for a good comics to be produced in such a poor way. Thinkthis way, you want to see a good comics turned movie, take a look atspiderman, X-Men: First class.

Quite A Spectacle

Well, lets get a quick look at the film. Explosions, CGI, 3D and afterthese comes everything else. These three things is the main reason whyone should watch Transformers: Dark of the Moon. We all know who Mr.Bay is and what his movies are famous for: explosions, explosions, explosions and destruction, destruction, destruction. Plot has neverbeen his strongest feature, but hey, and i am totally honest here, itworks well enough, at least for me. All i wanted to see was a typicalMichael Bay movie, something like Armageddon or the first Transformers, and what i got was a pleasant surprise. So, before watching the movie its probably not a sin to say that wewere certain of one thing: it couldn't have been worse than Revenge ofthe Fallen, which, lets be honest, was pretty atrocious. This timewe've got plot linked to Moon and Apollo 11, which was clever andworked well for the movie, decepticons taking over the world andturning Chicago into something we're used to see in The Terminatormovies and autobots with their human allies resisting them. Oh, andwhat we don't have is Megan Fox. Thank God for that. The new femalelead, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has one task: be pretty and well itssafe to say that she succeeds at it, no one expects her to deliver anaward-winning performance, but she did really good (it's her first filmby the way) and she fits in the movie and with Sam very well. Anyway, the film is much bigger and more serious than the previousones. This time we've got emotion and character, which maybe hassomething to do with, again having Steve Jablonsky and Linkin Park forsoundtrack. Iridescent which is played at some points creates anexcellent aura. All this decepticon destruction and "drawing the biggerpicture" motive provides us with more seriousness and depth. So all in all, Transformers: Dark of the Moon was an awesome watch. Itcould be for anyone, if only one goes to watch it for the right reasons(needlessly to say explosions, CGI and 3D). We've got fast pace, a lotof visuals, romance, a lot of mayhem and well, a moral (presentedheavily with clichés but, hey, no harm). All of which are vitalcomponents for a solid summer blockbuster and a clear head to defineTransformers as something more than meets the eye. Just sit back andexpect no mind-blowing depth and you won't be disappointed.

carlkevad (26 April 2012)

"Transformers: Dark of the Moon" was the fastest two and a half hours I've ever experienced.

Let me start off by just saying that "Transformers: Dark of the Moon"is much more better than its predecessor.I'm not what you'd exactly call a fan of the Michael Bay-directedTransformers film series. I didn't particularly like the first filmwith it's excess of cheese and CGI. I hated "Transformers: Revenge ofthe Fallen," which was even with it's action sequences less interestingthan watching paint dry in a dark room. It was muddled, and after 30minutes of watching the movie, I started to begin to have chronicheadaches. Luckily though, Michael Bay has picked up the pieces, anddirected the awesome "Transformers: Dark of the Moon."I'm not gonna bother writing a detailed plot description, since itdoesn't really matter a lot, but the film is practically the followingSam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) has to once again save the world from totaldestruction. He once again needs to help his Autobot friends. He onceagain has the hot girlfriend, this time a new one, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, who's replaced Megan Fox. She is what Megan Fox was, hot andnot getting too much dialog. She's effective at what she is supposed todo.Thankfully, there's less and more humorous humor here. Coen-favoritesJohn Turturro and Frances McDormand star alongside John Malkovich toprovide us with subtle humor. Turturro's character, the retired agentSeymour Simmons, who tried to laugh us in the previous films, actuallysucceeds here. From it's cast to the amazing special effects put todisplay here, "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" is a carefully madeaction picture. It succeeds as one on every level. That said, there are still mistakes in "Transformers: Dark of theMoon." The plot is too complicated for the adolescent 12-year-olds it'smainly made for, and it drags quite a lot in act two, but"Transformers: Dark of the Moon" was the fastest two and a half hoursI've ever experienced. I mean that in the best possible way. There's a huge cast in "Transformers: Dark of the Moon." Josh Duhamel,Tyrese Gibson, Frances McDormand, John Turturro, John Malkovich, HugoWeaving, Kevin Dunn, Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and evenPatrick Dempsey as Whiteley's boss.Bay is known for directing bad movies with great action sequences. Hedoesn't create a good movie here, but he creates a movie that's actionsequences are so good, that we don't really care about anything else. He's obviously done a lot of work here. Remember all you haters,Michael Bay doesn't write the dialogs of his movies. Ehren Kruger doesthat in "Transformers: Dark of the Moon," and I give Bay extra creditof making the action so good that we forget about Kruger's horribledialog writing.Apart from the action sequences, the 3D is amazing here. It's as goodas I've seen in a long while. In fact, I believe that the only movieswith good 3D I've ever seen are "Alice in Wonderland" and "Tron:Legacy." I didn't see "Avatar" in 3D. The second act dragged a bit, butthe engrossing act one and the frantic act three with the epicdestruction of Chicago in amazing 3D, more than make up for act two'smistakes. He said it himself, Michael Bay wants to "entertain the summeraudience". He will with "Transformers: Dark of the Moon," which is thebest film I've ever seen that he directed. This isn't a great movie, but it's wildly entertaining. It's got the explosions, it's got thefrantic action, it's got the Victoria's Secret model, it's got robotsbeating the **** out of other robots, and it's got the amazing thirdact of total destruction. What more could you ask from a summer actionflick?Rating: ★★★ (7/10)

Generic_Gooner (26 April 2012)

Im biased as a fan of the franchise, but this was a great action blockbuster

Firstly, loved the film, i will say now im a fan of the franchise so imsure that will allow the critics of the film to point to the fact ienjoyed ROTF. But this film delivered a very satisfying finale to Baystransformers imagining. Before i go any further, i have to say one thing. What are peoplereally expecting to get from a film where the premise is a battlebetween 20 foot alien robots? I have read a bit of empires review andstopped simply because they had some odd perception of what this filmshould be. Its not art-house iranian drama, which i know they seem toadore, its a summer action blockbuster. OK, to the review as best as i can without ruining anything. Forget any *beep* you hear about a nonsensical plot, compared to themore 'out there' effort in ROTF, this plot is straight down the line. This next bit is a spoiler so i will cover it accordingly... Thestarting point where we lay a foundation involving seeing cybertron seta tone that Bay wants to offer up a truly great transformers film, OKthey didn't give us much of it, but to have tried to focus anysignificant time on their planet could have incurred more wrath fromthe purists complaining it wasn't how THEY imagined it. So they set the scene well and then as i think someone else pointed outon the board the pacing does take a little turn for the worse. Itwasn't bad like some films have been before, but it did obviously havean intention of laying down a lot of plot about Sam and his new lifebefore they could really kick on and hit the main point. But at no timedo they ignore the need to bring in the transformers and actionsequences to keep the adrenaline pumping. Again a spoiler, it will be better when many more of you has seen it,but I thought it would be hard to bring a more menacing and destructivedecepticon than devastator, yet the introduction of shockwave with hisburrowing giant worm was outstanding as an ultimate evil. The fact theymade megatron a fallen force, a damaged villain that was being usurpedmade for another nice little touch. The last hour as has been mentioned is all out action, but the settingof the city of Chicago did definitely give it that edge to it, and thedarker tone we were promised. And yes, when one of the decepticons or autobots loses a team mate, they die. No get out clauses, Bay made sure when a warrior fell theyfell for the last time. It had comedy that of course some are going to point to as eitherjuvenile, racist or just plan dumb, but i have yet to see a film inrecent years that hasn't incorporated at least one example of each ofthese areas when aiming to play for laughs, so why is this suddenly anissue in a bay film? And yes its an action film, but to draw a balanceyou need to feel the light hearted side before they assault you withthe darker tones. And the action was exceptional. In ROTF one of my biggest complaintswas that when Optimus took on the fallen he had him beaten within acouple of moves. Unlike the epic throw down they had in the forest inthe same film where optimus fought 3 decepticons simultaneously whileSam tried to avoid getting squashed (along with the trees showing aperspective of scale for the warriors) the final battle then lacked abite. Well in DOTM i was not disappointed with the fights, they playedout how you would hope. Like i said it had the human elements played in. It had twists, it hada plot that made sense and the action was mind blowing. It was dark andthe comedy was played down. And for the record, the new girl playing Carly was not terrible at all.She may never be an Oscar winner (like that is a benchmark these days?)but she held her own and did what she was there to do... look prettyand provide a flow to the story as it played out. Sam needed to care atkey points in the film, and she provided a love interest worth saving Overall very impressed, 9/10 and very much looking forward to anotherviewing before it leaves the cinema. p.s. 3D viewing was worthwhile, it was far better than the *beep*converts i have seen recently and the made the action all the moreamazing.

This is also one of the best 3D movies to date

This is also one of the best 3D movies to date. One major critique of3D is that 3D glasses make the film darker, but here they do a verysmart thing, the film itself is brighter than your average movie andthis problem evens itself out. Another thing that worried me before Isaw it is that if there was so much high-speed action maybe that andthe combination of 3D would give me motion sickness, end of the movie:no problems. The BadThe villains suck. Megatron does absolutely nothing throughout thewhole film until right at the end, and even that was a let down.Shockwave appears briefly at the start and vanishes for two hours, hehimself doesn't actually do much, it's all down to this big namelesstentacle- clad decepticon he works with. Starscream does nothing, butthen he never did anything anyway. I'm not even going to mentionPatrick Dempsey. But the biggest let down is with the movies mainvillain "Sentinel Prime". Basically he is Optimus' predecessor but hechanged sides to the decepticons and made a deal with Megatron to bringlife back to their home planet Cybertron. This is the driving elementof the movie, but there are many plot holes from this. Early in thefilm Optimus basically says he wants to make Sentinel Prime leader ofthe autobots again, and offers him the matrix (an item that brings deadtransformers back to life) but Sentinel Prime declines. Then he changessides. Why did he decline taking the matrix? it would in definitely bea help in his ploy. Sentinel Prime gets numerous chances to killOptimus once and for all, but like all lousy villains he delays hishand and Optimus lives.

You better not have hoped for much!

First let me start by saying that I knew when I went to seeTransformers 3, that i was going to be in for a big budget blockbuster,so I wasn't hoping for too much in the way of depth or volume orcharacter development. But hell, a little wouldn't have been too muchto ask. I know I know, it's Michael Bay at his ocular raping best, butsomething is missing here. Something big. I think Sucker Punch proved, you can't just through a tonne of moneyand special effects at a turd and hope it will polish itself. And thisis no exception. Don't get me wrong, it's a major improvement onRevenge of the Fallen, but not quite up to the standard of the first. What has happened here (in MY opinion folks. Don't get upset. You'reall entitled to one, and have one (opinions, not assholes)) is, we seemto have lost the need or want to tell a story. The special effects here have spared no expense. The 3D is OK onlysurpassed by Avatar or Jackass 3D (no, seriously, if you'd seen Jackass3D, you would know what I'm talking about). I guess you have to tuneright out and not try to think about the film so much to rate it 10 outof 10, but when I'm paying hard earned dollars to see somethingspecial, I expect something special. This is not special. To be honest,my favorite thing about the whole film was the Green Lantern 3D trailerat the beginning. I guess I had hyped this film up for myself too muchand it failed to live up to my own expectations (also my friends whosat next to me complaining about the stupidity of the weak ass story). But I imagine I'm not alone. I think a lot of people have highexpectations of big budget blockbusters and want to see something mindnumbingly great. But this just didn't do it for me. Why? Because it wasjust plain stupid. The story had holes you could drive Optimus Primethrough (at one point he does). And come on, since when do Robots havefree-kin HAIR???? Robots with lips is one thing, but hair? I draw theline people. So see it (at your peril). But please don't expect to be blown away.Maybe expectations of an epileptic seizure (there is a lot going on atone time, flashing lights, explosions, space shuttle disasters androbots with hair) are more appropriate.I can only hope Green Lantern lives up to the trailers expectations.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011)

Michael Bay is the abusive husband of the cinematic world. He promisedus he had learned from his mistakes, he swore that it was the writer'sstrike that had a negative effect on the second film. And yet here heis, stumbling around like a drunk and going back on his promises. Thefilm sits somewhere between the first two movies in terms of quality. But I may hate it even more than the second film. It's pretty terrible, but it also flirts with some nice ideas that it never explores. There is less moronic comedy, but one has to ask if there was need forany. It's so childish, and yet we have almost every swear word and putdown I can think of. Kids must just love hearing the words d***head,w**ker etc. They've added a completely unnecessary mini-autobot to jointhe annoying one from the last film. Why? He is always with the othercharacter, and does stuff he could have done alone. It's a waste ofscreen time and special effects. After Bay was criticised for theracist twins of the last film he searched long and hard for a group itwas socially acceptable to ridicule. Thank God for the gays. There areso many jokes about possible gay characters that it gets boring fast.Bay doesn't hide his republican ideals, but shouldn't he be trying toentertain us in more creative ways?LaBeouf does fairly well here. I enjoyed his take on a wussy hero. Itwas great to see a young man screaming like a little girl. Leave theheroics up to the autobots. I was also impressed by his frustration. Wehave someone that has no recognition for his achievements. The painwhen he is interviewed for a mailroom job, but declares he has savedthe world twice, is a genuine moment of humanity. Yet, because it'sBay, this is soon undermined by a comical Asian character and anothergay joke. I was also disturbed by Optimus Prime's killer nature. I wasalways under the impression that he was a leader and had compassion andmorals. Here he declares "Kill them all" and stabs people in the backand tears off their faces. He's a bloodthirsty thing and scarier thanthe Decepticons. Like I said, the film has some nice ideas. I liked having Megatron as abeaten and disgraced leader. Unfortunately, this avenue is neverexplored. He's just a hobo, until the scriptwriters managed to fit himin. It could have been a bit of a tragic fall, like Hitler in Downfall. The relationship between him and Starscream could have been verymoving, as he would be loyal no matter how powerful Megatron was.Dempsey plays a particularly slimy villain, and it was interesting tosee a human threat paired with the Decepticons. The script once againchickened out by having a new love interest. I understand Fox was gone, but Bay's handling of it was so childish. She just up and left did she?Bay seems to have forgotten that her character was separate from Foxherself. She helped save the world twice, and was supposedly the loveof LaBeouf's life. Why not take a dramatic angle of an underappreciated hero, just ditched by his partner. Instead she's beenreplaced ever so quickly by some talentless, dull as dishwater, eyecandy that isn't even that attractive. The effects are incredible. They are seamless, but all this movieproves is that bad effects don't harm a good film and good effectsdon't make a bad film any better. The action scenes were very wellconstructed, and I could tell all the robots apart this time. Also, Inever fell asleep like with the second movie. Had the fat been trimmedand the extremes of goody comedy and then humans disintegrated beenbetter balanced, we may have had a very enjoyable movie on our hands.Had more attention been paid to the drama, it could have even beengreat.

Visual Effects 9/10 that about it

If you want to see great visual effects with sound you should watchthis movie .There is no proper story it is repeat of transformers 2 butlittle change in the sub plot . Micheal Bay / screen writers could havedone a lot better in story as there is nothing . I really wanted thismovie to gain success after debacle after 2nd one . Idk how stevenSpielberg like this script and producing the movie . Sometimes youcannot understand what transformers are talking about . There couldhave been huge plot or well made plot which could have driven thismovie big time .The ending was abrupt .Well overall i am giving 5/10(but for visual effects i would give 9/10) .

Won't disappoint fans!

Seriously, people trolling or lets just say pointing out the lacks ofthis movie forget it's a Michael Bay film. It's of the Transformersfranchise.Agreed, it has no redeeming plot, no storyline, it's exaggerated beyondwords and acting sucks. But people walking in the theaters for this movie don't expect any ofthat. They just want the 2 and something hours the movie runs to be inanother world, to be kids again and enjoy the special effects. And boythey're in for a treat. So I'm just saying, why not just like Transformers for what it is? Amindless action movie for the kids in us. And who expects drama orlooks for plot-holes in a Michael Bay movie is in the wrong place. Ithink he deserves all respect for what he does well: special effects! For the fans: it won't let you down!
